Imgur: The Ultimate Search Tool For Viral Images
Imgur is one of the greatest image hosting site that we all know. Its full of all the wonders and magic of the interwebs. With 1.5 million images uploaded every day, and bringing in over 5 billion page views from more than 130 million unique visitors every month; imgur is more than image hosting company.
Imgur is an online image hosting service founded by Alan Schaaf in 2009 in Athens, Ohio. Imgur describes itself as “the home to the web’s most popular image content, curated in real time and is dedicated by the community through commenting, voting and sharing.
Since its launch, it has been offering free image hosting to millions of users, and a comment-based social community. The company supports itself with revenue generated from ad sales, Pro accounts, commercial hosting and merchandise.
On October 22, 2012, Imgur released a user-submitted gallery, which allows users to submit directly to the Imgur gallery for public view, comments and votes. And on June 26, 2013, Imgur released its first content creation tool, the Imgur Meme Generator, which offers simple image macro creation as well as a public gallery of popular meme templates.
Soon Imgur has overtaken other image hosts, such as Photobucket, ImageShack, and TinyPic. And recently Imgur made an update for its search tool that’s poised to take Imgur from being just a site to upload and share images, to a place where people can go to find the Internet’s hottest images.
With the new imgur tools, you will be able to search for images by file type, size, title, and so on. Moreover, you can also use the custom galleries to filter out certain tags from your search. However, Schaaf stated that “If you want to find a general image of something, you should go to Google Image Search”.
With this ultimate Imgur’s new tagging and search tool, you can browse through categories of viral images, updated in real time, and create your own custom galleries.
